Capital that builds productive capacity.

TQA is a South African principal capital firm operating where institutional capital is most needed and least available — deploying directly into businesses, project development, and complex situations that would otherwise remain underfunded.

New Thinking

What if the world outgrew the models we use to read it?

And what if the problem isn't the capital — but how we've been taught to qualify opportunity?

We occupy the gap between bank credit and private equity — deploying fast, structured capital where the traditional system sees nothing to fund.

About Us

Built for the gap in South Africa's credit market

Bank credit has tightened. Development finance is slow. Private equity is too big for most of the real economy. TQA was established in 2017 to occupy that gap — a principal capital firm that advises on transactions and arranges and deploys capital with the speed of a trader and the discipline of an institution.

01

Advisor and investor

We advise on and arrange transactions for clients, and invest alongside them where conviction is high. Our returns are aligned to the outcome of every transaction we write.

02

Speed with discipline

Transaction-secured decisions in days — underpinned by disciplined pricing, robust security, and institutional-grade documentation.

03

Hands-on to the end

From first drawdown to final settlement or exit, every exposure is actively managed — never placed and left to chance.

Our Investment Principles

How we create value for investors

01

Deploy with Conviction

We take concentrated, high-conviction positions in businesses and assets we understand deeply. We do not over-diversify. We invest where our sector expertise and management capabilities give us a structural edge over passive capital.

02

Manage for Growth

After deployment, we actively work to improve the performance of each portfolio company — strengthening management teams, improving operational efficiency, accelerating revenue growth, and building the capabilities required for sustained long-term performance.

03

Compound Over Time

Our approach compounds value over the full holding period — reinvesting into the highest-performing positions and letting strong businesses grow into larger ones — then closing the loop with a managed exit: a deliberate, well-timed realisation, structured to maximise returns at the point of peak institutional demand.

What We Do

Three ways we put capital to work

Start a conversation
Business Lending

Working capital for trading businesses

Purchase-order finance, invoice discounting, contract-backed and cashflow-based lending for South African businesses with confirmed orders and quality debtors. Credit decisions in days, not months — secured against the transaction, not the balance sheet.

KwikBridge Platform
Capital Project Financing

Capital that builds productive assets

Development funding for productive real-economy projects — agriculture and agri-processing, renewable energy, mineral and land-based ventures, and the infrastructure that supports them. From early development through construction, offtake, and bankability, structured around project milestones with hands-on delivery support.

Special Situations

Value where others see trouble

Acquisition and turnaround of distressed businesses, loan books, and underperforming assets. We acquire at a disciplined entry, stabilise operations, restore cash generation, and hold or exit with discipline — providing liquidity to sellers when it matters most.

Principal Balance Sheet
Where We Invest

Three asset classes we know deeply

TQA deploys into a focused set of asset classes where active ownership and operational management create the greatest opportunity for compounding capital returns over a medium-to-long term investment horizon.

Operating Businesses

Structured equity and quasi-equity in cash-generating South African companies — from established enterprises to agri-processing and industrial operators — held with active ownership to accelerate growth, expand margins, and build institutional value.

Real Assets

Direct investment in productive, tangible assets — agricultural land and agri-infrastructure, logistics and industrial property, and mining and resource assets — owned and managed for durable income and long-term appreciation.

Infrastructure & Energy

Long-duration capital for income-generating infrastructure and essential services, including renewable generation — wind and solar — managed actively across the full asset lifecycle.

Investment Capabilities

Four services. Four capabilities.

Everything we offer maps to one of four capabilities — advising on the transaction, deploying the capital, accelerating the growth, and managing the exit. We do not separate advice from execution — they are the same practice.

01
Transaction Advisory

We originate, structure, and execute transactions — due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, and negotiation — for clients raising capital or acquiring assets, and for opportunities we pursue alongside them. Advisory is where every TQA relationship begins.

02
Capital Deployment

We arrange and deploy capital into operating businesses and real assets that meet our investment criteria — structured equity, quasi-equity, mezzanine, and senior debt. Deployment is milestone-based, with defined drawdown conditions and institutional-grade documentation.

03
Growth Acceleration

We work inside portfolio companies to drive measurable performance improvement — revenue growth, margin expansion, working capital optimisation, and management capability development. Active ownership is our core service to investors.

04
Exits

We manage exits with the same rigour as entry — structuring realisations to maximise investor returns, timing disposals to coincide with peak institutional demand, and ensuring the continuity of value through ownership transitions.

Why Active Ownership Outperforms Passive Capital in South African Markets

Passive capital allocation into South African markets consistently underdelivers — not because the underlying businesses lack potential, but because deployed capital is left to perform without active management engagement. The firms generating the strongest returns are those that behave as owners.
